so yesterday i went for the school of rock finals. superb balls! here are the results! *drumrolls*

after that, we went to eat at long john silvers and met our friends from aspirin backstage. they got 3rd place and won $2000 worth of cash and prizes, including a line 6 spider II 30watts amp. wow! that amp is yummy man!

then we proceeded to peninsular to get strings for bernard's epiphone les paul which he bought 2nd hand from some guy at only $300. heh. we then headed to the esplanade to from 7pm till 10pm to enjoy a night with beautiful music coming from some jazz band (damn i've forgotten their name!) and b-quartet!

a night ended with a beautiful gig. well done b-quartet.

national day parade preview!

had a great day yesterday. bernard and i went to catch this year's national day parade preview. it was good stuff. every year's the same thing, but i just love how the fireworks get themselves blasted year after year.. it was a beautiful sight!

when we reached there it was drizzling. but we didn't mind getting wet from all that slight rain. we grabbed ourselves a goodie bag and made our way to the sitting area. it was very very long since i stepped foot into a national event. the last was in 2001 or 2002 i guess, when i had to march for ncc air's contingent for youth day. that was in the national stadium. the first time (like everyone else) was in primary 5. this means this is the first time i'm experiencing it in the padang!

we were allocated to the yellow section, the smallest one out of the 4, led by sharon au! haha, she's such a hot woman! HAHA. very excited throughout the parade. jumping around and encouraging us that 'even though we're the smallest section we're the strongest!'

lots of stuffs in the goodie bag! crackers, flaps, our national flag, cap, lots of vouchers and much more!

and i accidentally ate broad beans that was included in the fun pack. damn it. =(

the island!

ok dudes. i watched 'the island' yesterday at bedok's princess for a good price of $5 per ticket. freaking worth it balls! the pop corn also not bad! $1.40 for small container filled with crispy sweet pop corns. yum yum!

the movie is fantastic. stars ewan and scarlett! nice storyline. good plot. splendid ending. there wasn't a bit in the movie that made me yawn, stopped a while to rest my eyes or stare blankly. i was practically glued to the big screen all the way!

so that was wednesday.

this is today:
ate at lido's long john silvers. great meal with kc and bernard. bernard has lots of sex stories to tell. apparently his sexcapade has motivated kc to start hunting for chicks at that so called red light district later tomorrow. i can't believe i'm still a virgin and the most innocent guy around.

Good morning everyone!

It’s a pleasure to be writing this e-mail to my ex-classmates whom I dearly missed. How are things going for you guys? How’s your new class? I heard a lot of horror stories coming from the SAS students (who ask you all so smart haha). Well whatever it is I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves in RP!

The reason why I’m sending this e-mail is because I thought it would be a great idea if we can have a class reunion sometime soon. It’s been so long since we had a gathering. The last was at East Coast Chalet (and I wasn’t even present on that day). But I enjoyed our very first chalet together at Pasir Ris. The late nights, the trip to the Red House and the fun we had torturing the hell out of our facilitators. It was REALLY REALLY fun! Thanks guys for sharing that experience with me!

However, because I know many of you will be busy with school work and your personal life, I will only make this a proposal. I know many of you are really excited to see each other again, but we need to see the response to determine whether we can really have another chalet =)

If there’s going to be one, we can only hold it during the coming holidays! I need to know how many days you guys are willing to stay overnight.

yeps! watched war of the worlds last week and fantastic four yesterday. great movies. no ratings from me as i believe ratings sucks. no matter how bad you think the movie is, no one should give ratings because the director, producer and the rest of the crew did so much and put in alot of effort for the movie. if you think the movie sucked, keep it to yourself. if you think the movie rocked, be rest assured we need more people like you in this world.

what a week!

hmm, how should i start? it's been a hell of a week. practices, freaking school, laptop breakdowns, practices, samuel under police custody, searching high and low for a replacement bassist, practices and finally the internal welcome tea gig!

maybe i should just skip the rest and only tell you guys about the gig, because it's the highlight of the week! there were 2 mini performances, one by reeves covering velvet revolver's slither, and the other by our very own committee band (which was disbanded after a year of fun, laughter, misunderstandings and pure jamming sessions) covering the G3 version of keep on rockin' in the free world which was originally by neil young.

it was very satisfying, as quite a number of year 1s turn up for the event. it was also my first outdoor performance. i expect myself to screw up when i'm playing, but i did not. it was so quick that both performances finished in a breeze. besides that, we had a formal introduction of the committee members and some Q&A at the end of the event. bob wasn't there to see us perform, but the rest of the advisors (sammy, varian and jocelyn) was there to witness their investments and efforts being paid off! besides pulse, there wasn't any band in rp who'd perform! now with pulse slowly drifting away, my band and kc's band (zolo) will take over and start a new breed of fans and supporters, both internally and externally.

yep, we'll be playing in gigs hosted at the esplanade, youth park.. you name it.

we'll be granted with gigs and i'm looking forward to having my first gig in public. imagine the number of ugly, handsome, pretty, fat and skinny humans turning up.

i know.
some will boo, some will cheer.
but it doesn't really matter.

i'm just glad a fresh batch of committee members have taken authority in JA and music.republic.

a big thank you to the people who have supported and believed in us all this while. the advisors, instructors, fellow friends and jammers - i thank YOU for making my 1 year stay in music.republic a great one.

can't wait to work closely with the year 1s. :)

this is a very delayed post. i'm supposed to blog this entry like on saturday when i got back from genting. haha. genting was fun! (=

and yes, yesterday (sunday) was my band's turn to audition for the school of rock competition organised by the straits times. well, my mum offered my band a ride to SPH from bluetail records (somewhere in katong). when we reached there, we saw a couple of bands, most of them wearing black tees (like, duh). i felt nervous at that very moment. i thought about the times i've screwed up on stage, first in secondary 4 and the other just recently in poly. i told and reassured myself that i won't screw up this time. let's find out whether i did, shall we?

so we waited till our turn to audition. we were asked to enter the auditorium. the auditorium was big. a couple of bands waiting for their chance to showcase themselves. also infront were 3 judges who are probably tired and almost dead after days and days of auditions. they looked bored when bands play on stage. their comments aren't that encouraging, but one of the judges did gave good advice, such as 'you have minor tuning problems. it'll be great if you can invest in a tuner" and "you guys need to improve on your stage presence and tightness as a band. keep working on it!"

we saw a few bands auditioned. they played songs from avenged sevenfold, matchbox 20, greenday and some originals.

our band's turned came.

we carefully setup our equipments up on stage, helped and manned by city music technicians and soundman. i recognised the audio engineer who helped me to adjust my amp settings. nathan paul? paul nathan? ain't too sure about that. but anyways, we did a soundcheck to 'phantom of the opera' and progressed straight to "slither" by velvet revolver. damn! i couldn't believe i had the guts to move about and bang my head. since when did i become so.. full of enthu? haha, well actually i don't know what the crap i'm typing but it's true, you should have seen me. it was unbelievable. i was rocking to "slither" and couldn't help but glanced at the judges and audience. and guess what, i was able to play the solo before the judges cut us off.

i shall stop here. results will be out on the 1st week of july.

we had our first jamming sesion today as reeves! yep people. reeves is the name of my outside band. comprises of:

bernard (rhythm guitar/vocals)
krystal (keyboards)
samuel (bass)
eman (drums)
and myself (lead guitar)

we jammed at bluetailrecords. cool place i must say. the owner is a hippy guy. he has uber cool dreadlooks man! has a dog too. cute little doggie! haha.

so yeah, we repeated slither all the way. we had to perfect this song before our auditions on the 26th. actually come to think of it, it's pretty scary. because this is our first time jamming together. and the only days we can jam again are on the 19th, 20th, 21th and 25th! but the session wasn't bad at all. we actually nailed it, just that i think we could do a lot better.

krystal is a meanie. she put her friend under cover at burger king! scary!

after jamming, we ate at parkway's erm.. high-class coffee shop. haha. the only people eating were krystal and nigel. samuel, bernard and myself had a drink instead. we are mama's boys anyway. dinner is already prepared at home! =p

and i'm so tired after today. i guess i'll watch bleach and sleep early tonight.

i have finally downloaded episodes 1-36 of bleach! 2 hours more to beck episodes 1-26! well so far it's been good. i've been hooked to bleach ever since the first episode. ichigo and the rest of the gang are just awesome!

what can i say? brilliant anime.

not to mention the soundtrack of bleach. it's just superb. though many tracks are instrumentals, that's what it's all about, isn't it? the complexity and feelings of shiro sagisu, the composer for most of the tracks on the ost. so far this is one of the best anime ost i've heard. others include street fighter, naruto and inuyasha.

not even a week of anime and i'm talking like i've been a fanboy all my life :)

friday is the day of my mini performance in school. we're gonna play:

the lady in-charge of contacting the bands who submitted their entries for the school of rock band competition is really making my band worry, especially myself.. because i was the one who submitted the form. if any server cock-ups occur, then i can declare I'm the dumbass of the century (with a trademark, thank you). do you people have any idea how much money i've spent for this month? nearly 2000 bucks on musical instruments/gadgets and other electrical devices! holy shit! and it's all for the competition!

if the lady don't contact us in a week's time, i'm gonna kill myself i tell you!
